Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God

January 1, 2018

Since the earliest days of being at St. Joseph’s for the Thursday Night Prayer Group I came to realize that expecting the unexpected was going to become normal for me. Prayer for me has taken on a much deeper meaning and a source of strength for me. Before ending up in Emmitsburg, prayer for me was almost nothing now it is almost everything. Many times as I have described in past papers I suddenly feel called to prayer at certain times. When this happens I glance at my watch and it is always 13 or 33. Today was one of those days and it went like this:

S.C.C. and I went to the 10 AM mass this morning at “Home Parish” for the Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God. Fr. <name witheld> was the priest. It was a very nice mass and Fr. <name witheld> made it even more special with his strong devotion to Our Lady. We knelt for the consecration and as we did I just happened to notice the time was 10:33. After mass Fr. <name witheld> led Morning Prayer and that ended at 11:13.

S.C.C. and I rode home and because of the frigid temperature I did not go metal detecting today like I usually do. I was sitting downstairs not really doing anything. My mind was just at rest and I had no plans. SUDDENLY OUT OF NOWHERE I felt the urgent need to go to “Home Parish” and pray the rosary for C.R.C. and the New Year. It was so strong and unexpected I glanced at my watch and the time was 1:33:13.

I drove to “Home Parish” and was surprised to find the door locked. This left me a little bewildered. Suddenly I felt like I wanted to go to Our Lady of The Blue Ridge so I did. I arrived and glanced at my watch as I walked in the door and it said XX:XX:33 (33 seconds). I prayed both the Glorious and Luminous mysteries of the rosary. During the rosary I found myself re-committing my promise to Our Lady and God to continue my support and papers about Our Lady of Emmitsburg. I glanced at my watch as I finished the Joyful and the time was 2:13. I glanced again as I finished the Luminous and the time was 2:33.
